Wix to WordPress migration

Moving from Wix to WordPress means rebuilding the site on WordPress and carrying your content across. Here is when it is worth it, what changes, and what we plan before your domain moves.

When staying on Wix makes sense

If any of these sound like you, fixes or a redesign on Wix may be the cheaper step.

  • Wix does what you need and you are happy editing in it.
  • Nobody will keep WordPress, its theme and its plugins updated, and you don't want a care plan.
  • You rely on Wix apps or features and haven't confirmed what would replace them on WordPress.
  • The real problem is the copy, photos or offer. A redesign on Wix fixes that for less.

What Wix and WordPress allow

From each platform's own help pages, linked beside each point.

  • Wix's help center explains that a working Wix site runs on Wix's own hosted platform and can't be exported and hosted somewhere else. Moving means rebuilding the design and features, then reviewing the content on the new site. (Wix Help Center)

  • WordPress is extended with themes and plugins, gives each person a role with its own permissions, and can import and export content. Where it is hosted and who maintains it are your choices. (WordPress.org)

What we plan

The review comes first. The written proposal then states the scope, price and timeline.

  1. 1.Review

We list every page, form, booking or store feature and Wix app on the site, and note what WordPress will use for each: a theme feature, a plugin or custom work.

  2. 2.Rebuild

The design is rebuilt as a WordPress theme, either an existing theme set up for you or a custom one. Wix templates don't carry over.

  3. 3.Content and data

Page text, images and blog posts are carried across and checked page by page. The review settles how much can be moved in bulk and how much by hand.

  4. 4.Redirects

Each old Wix address is mapped to its new WordPress address, so links and bookmarks still land on the right page.

  5. 5.Test, then switch

Forms, phone layouts, tracking and every redirect are checked on the new site before the domain points to it, then checked again after.

Have these ready when you ask

Rough answers are fine. Please don't send passwords through the form.

  • Your Wix site address.
  • The pages that bring in calls or inquiries.
  • The Wix apps and features you use: bookings, forms, store, members or blog.
  • Who manages your domain and email today.
  • Whether you already have WordPress hosting in mind.

After the move

WordPress core, themes and plugins need regular updates. Your team can do them, or a CARE plan covers them. See CARE plans
