Magento store review and support
Magento stores tend to carry years of extensions, custom code and integrations. Before anyone quotes a fix, an upgrade or a move, we review what the store runs on and depends on, and give you a written scope.
A review fits when
- Nobody can say which extensions and custom code the store depends on.
- A developer has left, and you need to know what you have before choosing what's next.
- You're weighing support on Magento against a move to Shopify and want the trade-offs in writing.
- Something specific is broken or slow, and you want it scoped before it's fixed.
Not a fit when
- The store is down right now. Start with your host; a review comes once the store is stable.
- You need open-ended, on-call development. Our work is scoped in writing first.
- You want a fixed price for a move without a review. The move depends on what the review finds. What a Magento to Shopify move involves
What Magento's export covers
From the platform's own help pages, linked beside each point.
The Adobe Commerce (Magento) admin can export product, customer and stock data. An export file is a starting point; it doesn't mean customer passwords, orders or extensions move on their own. (Adobe Experience League)
How we work with that: export files help a review or a move, but extensions, custom code and integrations still have to be listed and decided one by one.
What the review covers, and what can follow
The review is quoted and agreed in writing first. Anything after it is scoped from what it finds.
- Store review
- We list the version the store reports, its extensions, custom code, integrations, hosting and backups, and note the risks we see.
- Scoped support
- Defined fixes or changes from the review's list, each priced in writing before work starts.
- Custom requirements
- Customer-group pricing, B2B rules, checkout steps, or links to ERP, inventory or accounting systems, scoped one at a time.
- A planned move
- If the review points to Shopify, the move is planned extension by extension. Magento to Shopify
What to have ready
- Your store address, and where Magento is hosted.
- Who has admin, hosting and code access today, and whether the code is in a repository.
- The extensions and integrations you know about, such as ERP, inventory, accounting or shipping.
- Any customer-group pricing, B2B rules or custom checkout steps.
- What prompted the review: an error, slowness, an upgrade, a developer leaving, or a possible move.
Please don't send passwords through the form. Access is arranged after the scope is agreed.
What changes the scope
- How many extensions and how much custom code the store runs.
- Whether there is a code repository and a staging copy, or only the live store.
- Integrations with other systems, and who maintains them.
- The hosting setup, and who controls it.
- Whether the next step is support on Magento, custom work or a move.
How pricing works
You get a written scope, price and timeline before any work starts.
Magento stores vary too much to list a price here. The review is quoted in writing before it starts, and anything after it is priced from what it finds. If the store moves to Shopify, Shopify's planning ranges apply. Shopify development
What we won't promise
- A fixed price for a move before the review.
- That every extension has a Shopify equivalent, or that customer passwords and past orders move on their own.
- A ranking, a traffic number or a sales figure.
Questions
Do you take over Magento stores?
After a review. We list what the store runs on and depends on, then say what we can support, what needs a specialist and what we'd change.
Should I move from Magento to Shopify?
Sometimes. Stores that rely on custom modules, B2B rules or checkout logic need those confirmed on Shopify first. What a Magento to Shopify move involves
Can customer accounts and orders come across in a move?
Magento's admin exports product, customer and stock data, but don't assume passwords, orders or extensions move on their own. The review plans each one.
How is the review priced?
It's quoted in writing before it starts, based on the store's size and the questions you need answered.
