Moving your website to a new platform

A platform move is a rebuild with your content carried across, not a copy and paste. We review what you have, tell you whether moving is worth it, and plan the content, data, redirects and testing before anything changes on your domain.

Pick your move

Each page covers what that platform can export, what gets rebuilt and when to stay put.

Moving from another platform? Ask anyway. We will tell you whether it is a job we should take on.

When staying put makes sense

If any of these sound like you, ask about fixes or a redesign on your current platform first.

  • The site works on phones and brings in inquiries. The problem is traffic or the offer, not the platform.
  • The feature you are missing is one setting, app or plugin away on your current platform.
  • Your team knows the current editor and nobody will learn a new one.
  • The switch would land in your busiest season.
  • The budget covers the move but not the content, photos and testing it needs.

What every move covers

  1. Step 1 Review

List every page, product, form, integration and tracking tag, and what the new platform will use for each.

  2. Step 2 Rebuild

Platforms don't share themes, so the design is rebuilt on the new platform, not copied.

  3. Step 3 Content and data

Move what the old platform can export, check it, and plan by hand what it can't.

  4. Step 4 Redirects

Map every old address to its new one so links and bookmarks keep working.

  5. Step 5 Test, then switch

Check pages, forms, checkout and tracking before the domain moves, then check again after.

What we won't promise

  • That every piece of data moves automatically. Some of it is rebuilt or re-entered, and the review says which.
  • Rankings or traffic after the move. Redirects and a careful launch protect what you have; they can't guarantee it.
  • A price or timeline before the review. The written proposal states both before any work starts.

After the move, a CARE plan can cover updates and fixes. Building on WordPress? See WordPress websites. Moving a store? See Shopify development.

Ask about a migration

Send your current site address and what has to keep working. Please don't send passwords through the form. You get a written scope and price before any work starts.
